An important message to our community - Black Lives Matter
In the past two weeks, the events in the United States, Canada and around the world remind us that silence is never an option. Black lives matter and it’s time for every one of us to stand up and be Anti-Racist.
Hatch has always stood against all forms of racism and discrimination, including Anti-Black racism, Islamaphobia, Homophobia, Transphobia and Antisemitism and seeks to actively end it.
We’re proud to be part of a company that both hires and promotes without racial or gender bias. Did you know that 45% of our staff identify as visual minorities? And that more than half of the Hatch team identify as women? We’re working hard to encourage future generations, kids who become tomorrow’s leaders, to see beyond boundaries when searching for solutions together.
You may know that Hatch is a social enterprise, with roots in commitment to promoting equity and equality for all. We have always believed that education helps to create an equal starting line and opportunities for those willing to keep learning and growing. This is why we have, in our seven years as a company, always provided accessible means for coding education.
Whether through scholarship seats, discounts or special requests; we believe in making new skills within reach as learning is for everyone. Do you have a community that you’d like us to support? We’ve extended outreach to make it possible for communities across Canada to learn with us, from communities in the Northwest Territories to families within the urban core. We are able to provide this accessibility by offering scholarship seats for every paid seat in different schools and districts.
We know that the future of this world, virtual and in-person, will be as diverse as those who build it. Inputs create the outputs. When we celebrate diversity, we celebrate creativity towards collaboration. Learning from each other and problem solving together towards a better tomorrow, which will require us all to unite in finding solutions.
On behalf of our entire team, while we know we don’t have all the answers, we resolve to use our collective sense of humanity to ensure we continue to foster a culture and community that embraces all races and multiculturalism. Going forward, we will continue to do what we have done for the last seven years, which is to do our part in creating a more equal starting line for everyone.
We invite you to reach out with your feedback or suggestions on how we can do things better; help us to keep learning by emailing us with your thoughts at support@hatchcoding.com.
Be kind to each other and take care,
Peter Kuperman & The Hatch Coding Team
